Companies operating in the EEA are obliged to offer products that are safe. This includes the implementation of standard minimum requirements of safety of all member states. Only in this way can distortions of competition by unjustified savings of individual suppliers be avoided.
In the Republic of Italy, the Chambers of Commerce are integrated into the sovereign duties of market regulation. Among these duties there is the need to comply with an obligation to inform end users and formal as well as technical requirements to which both producers and importers are particularly subject:
- Basically all non-food products must respect Directive 2001/95/EC of the European Parliament on general product safety and the Italian consumer codex
- Products that have high and frequent user risks and therefore need special performance targets are, in addition, subject to CE marking. This mandatory conformity mark is regulated by a number of further European Directives
